Perfect stay in a wonderful location
We stayed for 2 nights in the Lund Seaside Inn, it was just a perfect stay. Marianne, Gord and their daughter Nicole treated us like family and made us feel welcome from the first moment. The Inn is located on a tiny island about 2 minutes boat ride from Lund harbor, the rooms were really clean and had a wonderful view over Lund and the nearby islands. Breakfast and dinner were just delicious and Gord and his family had tons of interesting and funny stories to tell. We also made a super nice trip to Savary Island, mountain bikes and a wonderful lunch at a secluded beach were provided by Gord. They have a little sign next to their door which just says it all: “Come in as guests, leave as friends”. Hope to be back soon!
Best Inn-Keeper I’ve met
We’ve stayed at many bed-and-breakfasts up and down the coast from Oregon through BC. This was the most friendly one we have encountered.
The inn is on an island that is a 5minute boat ride from the mainland. Call the inn and the owner will come over to pick you up.
The room was nice, great views of the ocean and Lund harbor. the bed was a little on the firm side if you’re not good with that. The pillows were quite firm – but there were fluffy ones in the closet (my wife didn’t tell me that until we were leaving and I mentioned the pillow quality). Bathroom was clean. The owners give you the run of the house – the living room, dining room, exercise room and chart room (binoculars, local maps, ocean view). there is a fridge for you to keep food in if you bring you own (we always bring cheeses, snacks, soda and wine with us).
Breakfast is good and plentiful. The menu rotates so you won’t get bored. They offer lunch and dinner if you give them advance notice.
We spent a lot of time sitting on the back patio with the owners and their family chatting and having a good time. Most inn-keeps point you to your room and you don’t see them again until they bring your breakfast in. Gord and Maryanne were very friendly and accommodating, making suggestions for things to do around the area and were a real pleasure to meet.
Gracious hosts, gorgeous views, smartest dog ever
I am not a “bed and breakfast” person. I never feel comfortable in a stranger’s home. There is now one exception to that rule: the Lund Seaside Inn. The hosts, Gord and Maryanne, were incredibly friendly and helpful. Within a few minutes of arriving I felt completely at home. They were gregarious, funny, and so accommodating. Gord took us to a private beach on one day, and another day he took us on a long and fabulous boat tour of Desolation Sound. There’s a sign when you enter the house that says something like, “Enter as guests, leave as friends.” That’s exactly what happened. Did I mention Jack, the world’s smartest dog? And Maryanne makes the Best Scones Ever. Yep, we’ll go back.
